S2E1 - Navigating the Past and Present in Urban Regeneration

CERT Season 2 Episode 1

Join us for Season 2 of The No Bullsh*t Property Podcast!

We’re kicking off a new season with a new set and a whole host of new topics, starting with a dive deep into architectural heritage on none other than World Heritage Day.

In this episode Howard and Paul examine the changing perspectives on architectural heritage, reflecting on how buildings once seen as eyesores have come to be appreciated for their unique design elements. They share stories from their own experiences with heritage, including the preservation of historical features from projects such as Hilton House in Manchester and Duke and Parr in Liverpool.

Throughout the conversation, they question whether we're at risk of running out of buildings to restore and discuss the real challenges facing heritage preservation, including maintaining historical features within modern regulatory frameworks and budget constraints.

Wrapping up, Paul and Howard delve into the balancing act between maintaining authentic heritage features and providing modern amenities. They use Duke and Parr as an example to illustrate how the fusion of the old and new can provide a ‘wow factor’ for tenants.
